Jeff keeps trying to put the Kibosh on my fireplace mantel painting project. I'm super irritated. I want to do this so badly and I don't know how else to convince him. I have showed him numerous photos of similar before and after pics that have beautiful results. I'm starting to feel like this is just a control thing.
Jeff's dad passed away a week after mine last month. We brought the end tables to our new house but they reek of cigarette smoke. I hate the smell with every fiber of my being. It reminds me of poor people smell. Yes, that sounds very wrong but it's how I feel. I tried cleaning them with vinegar, laundry soap and regular cleaners. I have taken off coats of nicotine. It's disgusting. I even stripped and ruined from wiping so many times. I am worried about my girls touching it if I can still rub this crap off. So here is my question, are they worth stripping and refinishing? I think they would look so cute in a distressed white (with my white fireplace, of course) but I do not think he will go for that look. At this point he is stuck with letting me( really, letting me??) redo them somehow because they are already ruined.
And back to this whole fireplace project... should I just put my foot down and say I'm doing it? I mean, this is my house too and I have to stare at that damn thing 24/7! And isn't a home more of a reflection on the wife? Ughh...I'm so irritated!
Here are some photos of the stupid end table.

I say refinish...I know it is difficult for my husband to visualize how a project will turn out. Perhaps, he just needs to see for himself how much better things will look! Good luck!

I already commented here. But I just wanted to stop back and say Thanks for linking up with us today at the More Than Mommies Mixer. And we are now following via GFC!
Stopping over from the mamma blog hop - though I am not even close to being a mamma, but was asked to join in on the fun! I am sorry about the lose.. those end tables if painted a nice white and antiqued and change the hardware, can look amazing!
