Overcoming Writer's Block for Mom Bloggers

I know I'm not the only one that gets major writer's block. I hate it!! It makes me feel like I shouldn't be doing this thing I love so much. I know that's just insane but the frustration from it drives me bonkers.  There is one thing I try to keep reminding myself and that is, "Live to have experiences to share but don't share random content to have experiences to live for".  Does that make sense?   I just don't want to waste the time I have with my family thinking of new stories when I could be out enjoying my family and creating new experiences to share.  So what do I do when I can't think of what I'm going to share with my readers?  Here a few things that I've always done and a few tips that I've learned over the last few months.  I hope some of these can help you get those words flowing for you again.

  • Take the kids on a walk
  • Go on a long walk alone with a big cup of coffee and my thoughts
  • Take a quiet candlelit bath
  • Visit someplace new with the kids and bring the camera
  • Attempt a new recipe and get your kids involved in every step of the process
  • Go on a date night with hubby and brainstorm on some cool ideas.  It's nice to get him involved.
  • Talk to some other mommies and see what kind of chaos is going on in their lives
  • Buy a bottle of your favorite wine and send daddy and the kiddos away for a few hours
  • Read a great book
  • Take the kids to the park
  • Take on a new Pinterest project that is completely out of your comfort zone
  • Visit an animal shelter with the kids
  • Take a break! Sometimes we start off writing for fun but then we make it our job and that can suck the creative juices out of us!
  • Close your eyes and think of some of your favorite childhood memories and the things you did that made you smile
  • Teach your kids something you new
  • Take a mini family vacation
  • Remember that it doesn't have to be perfect the first time.  Start with some thoughts and ideas and then come back later to put it all together.
  • Blogging should be fun and not a chore.  Speak from your heart.
  • Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.  Thank goodness for Wordless Wednesdays!
Here is a great article I found on Yahoo called, "10 Article Templates to Overcome Writer's Block Fast so You Can Write Your Articles in 30 Minutes".  This article provided me with real inspiration for future posts.  I was almost hesitant to share the info.  ha ha ha  Kidding!
Please let me know what kind of things you do to get over your writer's block.  What do you do for new inspiration?
